Faculty, staff and students will celebrate a moment like no other in University of Texas at Austin history: a total solar eclipse over campus.

Description

Longhorns on the Forty Acres and other campuses will experience nature’s greatest sight — a total solar eclipse. This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience you won’t want to miss!

Stop by any of the 16 Sun Spots to pick up your burnt-orange eclipse glasses, see the sun through a telescope, learn more about eclipses and grab your eclipse-themed snacks!

While this event is for UT students, faculty and staff, members of the public also can find helpful resources, including guidance about viewing opportunities around Austin, safe viewing tips for wherever you happen to be in the path of totality and links to much more from the McDonald Observatory and on eclipse.utexas.edu

Austin-area residents and visitors can attend public events in parks throughout the city where viewing glasses and solar telescopes from the University will be on loan from noon to 3 p.m.
